Our fall black bear hunts in maine consist of a four-week season over bait and a three week season with the hounds, which run consecutively starting the Monday proceeding the first of September.
MAINE BLACK BEAR HUNTS
Our maine bear hunts are run from the Salmon Pool Camps, which are located 30 miles west of Ashland, Maine. The 4- and 6-man cabins, along with our kitchen and dining room are located on the bank of the Aroostook River, which is home to some of the finest native brook trout fishing in Maine. These remote, but vehicle accessible cabins were originally built over 100 years ago and today remains as one of the last original Maine Sporting Camps.
FALL BEAR HUNTING IN MAINE
 Our hunting area is over 500,000 acres of northern Penobscot, Piscataquis and Aroostook counties which are historically the top 3 black bear producing counties in the state.A full month of pre-baiting and stand preparation ensures we have plenty of active baits for everyone with ample spares. We maintain over 200 bait sites and hunt separate locations each week, making every Monday the first day of the season. Our ability to be able to move around allows us to keep higher than average success rates and plenty of big bear on the game pole.
BLACK BEAR HUNTS MAINE
All of our fall hunts are 6-day hunts. Arrival is Sunday afternoon and departure is the following Sunday before 9am. First meal served is Sunday evening and the last is Saturday supper. Meals are included in our fall black bear hunts.
GUIDED BLACK BEAR HUNTS
Our bait areas are set up with either ground blinds or tree stands that average 10 feet in height with an average distance of shot being 35 to 50 yards. Bow stands are between 12 and 17 yards from bait and are approximately 12 feet high. Once a kill has been made and you have your pictures taken, our qualified guides will skin and freeze your hide for shipment and assist you in boning and preparing your meat for your trip home. We recommend you contact your taxidermist before your trip or we can make arrangements for you. There is no additional charge for trophy care.

• Fall Bear Hound Hunts: $2,000 Per Person
• Maine hunt prices include meals and lodging. Sales tax and North Maine woods access fees are included.

Maine law allows bear hunting with a firearm and/or archery with a big game license and bear permit.

MAINE BLACK BEAR HUNTING WITH DOGS
For three weeks, starting the last week in September, T.R.O. along with Jim Merschat, offer hound hunts for black bear from the Salmon Pool Camps. The hound hunt gives the opportunity, for these who enjoy the chase and sound of the hounds, a chance to see Maine at its colorful best. With the changing leaves and cooler mornings, the first strike will get the body and mind started better than a thermos of coffee. BOOKING YOUR MAINE BLACK BEAR HUNT
A deposit of one-half of the hunt cost is required to confirm the hunt. Remaining payment by cash or certified check is due on arrival. Deposits are non-refundable but are transferable to another person. During shows we will hold spots for $200 down with the remainder of deposit due within 10 working days.
